Frequently Asked Questions

Unfortunately I only speak Spanish, is there someone to help me ?

Ability Medical has a diverse staff and employs bi-lingual individuals who would be more than happy to assist you.

What equipment is covered by my insurance?

Medicare covers durable medical equipment that your doctor prescribes for use in the client's home. DME is "durable," used for a medical reason, is not usually useful to someone who is not sick or injured, and must be used within the home to accomplish daily mobility related activities. Bathroom safety equipment is not a covered benefit through Medicare, however products like Back & Knee brace may be eligible.

Can Ability Medical Health & Wellness remove my old equipment for disposal ?

We require that the home be ready for the new medical equipment we deliver and that all existing furniture is moved prior to our arrival. If no space is available, we ask that you contact us to reschedule the delivery. Unfortunately, we are unable to dispose of your existing furniture.

Why do you require a detailed Physician's Order?

A detailed prescription is the documentation that is provided by your physicians to support the need of the product or services we are providing. The detailed prescription must include the client's name, DOB, a description of the items including HCPCS codes, diagnosis, length of need, and physician's detailed information, and the physician's signature and date. All insurance companies, including Medicare, require a detailed prescription in order for us to bill your equipment.

Can I return an insurance order?

If your order has not already been submitted to your insurance company, and your return is still within the requirements of our Return Policy, your order can be returned. If your order has been submitted to your insurance company you cannot return your order. Once we have submitted to your insurance, we have no way of stopping the billing process and therefore we cannot reimburse.

Do the prices on your site reflect insurance pricing?

No, the prices displayed on our website are discounted prices meant for cash-and-carry customer. If you need to know the cost up front, call us and we can give you accurate insurance pricing. If you have an existing insurance account with us, we will be able to tell you what you will pay after any deductibles and co-pays. If you're not a current customer, we will still be able to give you a general idea of the cost.

How much does this service cost?

The initial consultation with a medical supply professional is completely free of charge. After careful evaluation of your situation, the medical supply specialist provides a quote for the medical supplies requested and associated costs. Every case is different, and we are dealing with many unique situations, which is why it is impossible to determine a flat price to cover every scenario. Please call us to discuss your needs.
